Hi Mike,

I found my brother's picture on your Flying Friends in Korea web site and felt the need to comment.

Donald Roberts McKaig died when his plane clipped a mountain plateau on January 30, 1957 (not 1955)  @

1855,  MST in a F-86D (52-3607) while on a IFR "Wrightson Departure" scramble in bad weather out  of

Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ.  He had achieved the rank of Capt. prior to his death at the young age of 27 years.

He was reassigned from the  36th FBS to the 15th FIS in September, 1953 three months after his plane was shot

down by Anti-Aircraft Artillery fire on June 15, 1953 in a F-86F (52-4452) and rescued near Chorwon, [Korea??]

I believe his plane was tagged "Millie".  Millie was the gal he married in October, 1953 after his reassignment

from K13 to AZ.

Curious if you or Fick Henderson have any more photos of Don or his aircraft in your archives?

Sincerely,

Dean McKaig
