Mike,
My Grandfather served in the 36th between 1951 and 1952 flying F-80s. Capt. John D. Roy Jr. He completed 100 missions while stationed at K13, I am enclosing a couple of pictures from his return from the 100th mission in Feb. 1952. The caption at the bottom of one says: Suwon AB Korea - 100 Mission Smile - Feb 1952. The name of his F-80 was The Olde Bat, named in honor of my Grandmother. The other photo caption says: Crew Chief - my plane - and I after completion of 100 missions.
I have tried in vein to find the buzz number/Serial number of his jet which appears to be FT-560 or FT-580, or 49-560 or 49-580. I have many slides from his collection that I have yet to go thru, I am hoping to find a better picture of the jet in those. Grandpa went on to retire as a Colonel in 1978. He died in 2003.
If you might have or come across any information on him I would greatly appreciate anything.
Thank you for your time,
John M. Roy
